Surgery in Aurora, Colorado
More than 10,000 Coloradans choose to have their surgeries done at The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) each year. Our professional surgical staff is dedicated to providing patients with every resource they need for their upcoming procedures.
Orthopedic and spine surgery
Our orthopedic and spine surgery program is comprehensive, from pre-surgical assessment and education, to follow-up and rehabilitation. We offer total hip replacement, total knee replacement, shoulder treatment, spine surgery, spine rehabilitation and pre-operative education classes for our patients.
Laser spine surgery
Laser spine surgery has become a common term used by the public, but it’s important to know exactly what minimally invasive spine surgery is and the proper function of lasers.
In minimally invasive spine surgery, the surgeon makes a very small incision and uses specialized instruments to operate. The lasers are not used to cut or make the incisions. In special circumstances, lasers are used to remove tumors from the spinal cord and to shrink spinal disc tissue.
Heart and vascular surgery
Our experienced surgical teams and advanced technology enable us to provide the best possible care for our patients. We provide surgical treatment for a variety of neurological conditions, including strokes, brain aneurysms and tumor removals. Our procedures include minimally invasive brain surgery, 3D brain mapping, brain clippings and coilings and Chiari treatment through the Colorado Chiari Institute.
Our thoracic program provides advanced care for patients with thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, chest wall tumors and mediastinal masses. We use advanced, less invasive techniques, including video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and laparoscopic procedures. Patients also have access to cutting-edge clinical trials for lung and esophageal cancer through TMCA’s partnerships with the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center and the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute.
