Returning Patients Back to Life Faster with the da Vinci Surgical System
The team at The Medical Center of Aurora is committed to getting our patients back to their lives in the safest, most efficient way possible. One of the ways we can do that for some of our patients is through the use of the da Vinci® Robotic Surgery System.
Benefits of Robotic Surgery
This state-of-the art technology allows surgeons to access the body through tiny incisions (some as small as one centimeter), manipulating instruments that are even more precise than the human hand. The approach leads to a variety of benefits, including:
- Reduced blood loss
- Smaller incisions, less pain and scarring
- Less blood loss
- Fewer complications
- Reduced risk of infection
- A shorter hospital stay
- A faster return to normal daily activities
Areas of Specialization
We use this state-of-the-art technology on qualifying patients who are in need of surgeries such as:

About Robotic Surgery
During da Vinci® Robotic Surgery, the surgeon sits at the robotic system console set several feet from the patient in the operating room. The surgeon views the body through a high-definition, 3-D system while using hand controls to move robotic arms, which have been inserted strategically through small incisions. The robotic arms mirror the surgeons’ motions on a much smaller scale, allowing them more dexterity and agility than the human hand alone.
