Welcome to your psychiatry program!

Thank you for your interest in our psychiatry residency program at Rocky Vista University Osteopathic School of Medicine located at the Medical Center of Aurora- North, a HealthONE program.

The psychiatry residency program is a newly developed program with our first class expected to graduate in 2021.

Our mission is to emphasize on the importance of creating a nurturing, cohesive, friendly and collegial learning environment, and an unwavering commitment to education.

Our Program provides a variety of clinical experiences to ensure that our trainees are exposed to a wealth of different types of patients and clinical approaches. TMCA-North is an 86 bed behavioral health and wellness facility located in Aurora, Colorado. We have inpatient adolescent, geriatric and adult units that serve a wide variety of demographics in the Denver area. Our program is growing rapidly with a plan to add a child unit and expand on our geriatric inpatient unit before the end of 2018. Our dedicated outpatient medication clinic addresses a wide variety of clinical spectrum with high emphasize on psychotherapy and dual diagnosis programs. We are also proud to be providing IOP/PHP programs for children and adolescents to promote a better transition/continued care after acute hospitalizations.

Our RVU/HealthONE program is dedicated to the wellness of our residents. Our residents, faculty and department leadership create a culture of continual evaluation and improvement of our program.  Through the resident wellness committee, annual resident retreat, process groups, social gatherings, the Patient Safety/Quality improvement symposium, mentorship programs and a program director open door policy we facilitate these improvements.

This psychiatry residency program is currently accredited by the AOA and is in the process of ACGME accreditation. Pending ACGME accreditation and successful completion will allow residents to take the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology examination.

This is one of the most important phases of your professional career and we are delighted that you are considering training in our RVU/HealthONE program. We are looking forward to meeting you in person. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding our program.

Sincerely,

Ahmed Maher, MD FACMG
