FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AURORA, CO, December 5, 2016 – The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) opened a human milk Donation and Outreach Center today, joining the network of Mothers’ Milk Bank (MMB), a Colorado-based, nonprofit program benefiting women and babies nationwide. The Center is one of two in Aurora. East Denver and Aurora mothers with extra milk can make a difference in babies’ lives by donating their excess milk to Mothers’ Milk Bank.
“We are very excited to have been given the opportunity to become a Donor and Outreach Center for Mothers’ Milk Bank,” said Natalie Zamulinski, TMCA’s Director of Women’s & Children’s Services.
“Our Center will give lactating moms in Aurora and East Denver another location to which they can bring their donated breast milk and we hope this convenience will encourage more women to consider donating.”
The Medical Center of Aurora will safely transport the milk donations to the Denver facility where it will be pasteurized and distributed to babies across the country whose mothers cannot supply sufficient milk for their needs. The Medical Center of Aurora has used donor human milk for babies who need supplementation through this program for more than 10 years.
